Accidents resulting in trauma very often include damage to the musculoskeletal system. In this type of emergency situation, an orthopedic trauma surgeon is often called in to assess and repair damage to muscles, ligaments, cartilage, tendons, and bones.

Many of our surgeons are on call at emergencie departments and are ready to meet the needs of trauma patients. Our doctors have a great deal of experience with difficult and time-sensitive surgical procedures involved in repairing damage to the musculoskeletal system.

We have full-time, dedicated faculty members who are available to provide support and guidance for fellows on their research and quality improvement projects. Fellows will have the opportunities to participate in the below scholarly activities:

  • Weekly lectures, conferences, seminars, small discussion groups, surgical grand rounds and journal clubs.
  • IRB approved research projects leading to presentation and/or publication.
  • Submission of a manuscript for publication in a peer review journal.
  • Access to shared databases through the staffed library.
You’ll get the opportunity to practice in Grant Medical Center's 49-critical care licensed bed teaching hospital, ranked the busiest adult Level 1 Trauma Center in Ohio by the American College of Surgeons, and other OhioHealth inpatient and outpatient facilities. Grant also serves as a tertiary center for patients in more than 50 counties in Ohio and neighboring states and has over 6,000 trauma visits a year.
